One of the many splendors found in Paris are the seemingly endless planned gardens. Personally, I can be likened to a plant Grim Reaper–so you can imagine the sheer glee and marvel I experienced while taking a promenade through the gardens of Versailles.
From childhood to my most recent visit, the Jardin de Toulerie remain my absolute favorite. You can walk through these lovely gardens to get to the Notre Dame, Louvre and lots of good shopping.
If you’re planning a trip to Paris, the two gardens you absolutely cannot miss are the gardens of Versailles and Touleries. Truthfully, the city is lined with these wonderful treasures just begging to be discovered–so feel free to get lost and meander.
Lastly, if you’re feeling extra adventurous and can afford the time, just outside of the city is likely the most breathtaking garden of all–Claude Monet’s Garden at Giverny. About an hour drive from the heart of Paris, these gardens are a must see if you’ve never been before. We didn’t make it over this time, but the landscaping and flowers bring powerful perspective and life to his stunning paintings (which you can check out at the Musee D’Orsay).
