Oh the places you’ll go…

I have never quite understood the concept of New Year’s Resolutions. I can assure you, it is not for the lack of trying. I have sworn to give up chocolate, shop less, be kinder, get fitter…etc. all to no avail. Somehow, the idea of declaring my vices and publicly committing to a year of betterment has always seemed like a daunting responsibility all too often ending in guilt – especially considering that most resolutions are doomed to failure within weeks of their inception (because seriously, who actually gives up chocolate?). This year I have put a stop to the New Year’s Resolution Conundrum! Rather than declaring my vices and swearing to improve them, I have created another list that I actually want to stick to: the Travel Resolution – a listing of my  top four places I intend to see this year in ranked order.

      1. Paris, France
      2. Marseilles, France (Provence)
      3. Portland, Oregon
      4. Seattle, Washington

Pictures and stories of my travels to follow! I’m fairly certain that this is one of my better ideas – 2012 is already looking like more fun than 2011…

  1. Paris and Seattle are FANTASTIC! I can give you some spots to see in Seattle if you’d like, since I have an aunt who lives up there ^_^

My resolutions are more to challenge myself to do something rather than get rid of something, since I find more drive in a positive goal or challenge. Mine is to delve more into my hobbies and make something of it–specifically, learn to sew well enough to make my costumes completely, practice makeup more to hopefully start doing something with it, and get more out there with photography.

Best of luck for your travel goal–I’m looking forward to hearing about it!

  2. Excellent idea. And you can really do those in two parts, rather than four. I went to Portland in September a couple of years ago and it was great.
